Hi, I’m August Tousignant-Stanton!
Many folks have trouble accessing a queer- and neurodiverse-affirming therapist who understands both the challenges and the joys of living authentically. My practice is designed to be a space where queerness, complexity, and difference are celebrated rather than explained away. With more than 17 years of experience, I specialize in supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, their families, and people in relationships of all structures, including those navigating gender-affirming medical care. My approach is grounded in systemic and relational therapies, always through a trauma-informed, affirming lens. At the heart of my work is a belief that therapy should feel both meaningful and deeply human-where expertise meets authenticity, humor, and connection.

Affirming Psychotherapy
Here, you don’t have to educate your therapist on what it means to be queer, neurodiverse, in a non-monogamous relationship, or living with epilepsy or non-epileptic seizures (NES). You won’t be met with confusion or judgment-you’ll be met with understanding. At Affirming Psychotherapy, you can walk into session knowing your therapist is informed, affirming, and actively blazing trails in the therapeutic community. You deserve care that meets you where you are-and that starts here.

Queer Adjusted Systemic Lens
Clients tell me that they’ve had to educate clients about their queerness, and advocate to validate their experiences and unique set of joys and struggles. I created the Queer-Adjusted Systemic Lens in response; queer identity should never come secondary to the feelings of others. It should never be negotiated. I support all members of a family or intimate partner relationship system to affirm queer folks and provide healing for all.
Supervision & Professional Development
As a queer and neurodiverse supervisor, I offer a unique perspective to therapists who share these identities or are working with clients who share these identities. My history supervising spans back fifteen years, and I engage with supervisees in a collaborative dynamic to provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and training in best therapeutic practices. I am also an accomplished speaker, and have presented to international audiences, places of business, and therapists all over the country.
