The “No Surprises Act” recently passed in the Colorado legislature mandates that medical offices have to provide a “Good Faith Estimate (GFE)” to patients about their costs. This estimate is provided only to clients who are not using insurance to cover their services; those who are using insurance will not be provided this estimate and need to contact their insurance companies for information about their costs. Self-pay clients will be provided a GFE at least one day before their session with their rate for therapy, and the self pay rate is also noted in Affirming Psychotherapy LLC’s policy practices document that clients are provided before starting therapy.
Some services at Affirming Psychotherapy LLCS are not covered by insurance even if clients have insurance. These include fees for any legal services and any type of letter written by Affirming Psychotherapy LLC. If you request one of these services, you will be provided a GFE for these services before these services are provided.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
•You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
•Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
•If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
•Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.
